Population Estimation and Identification of Long-Tailed Macaque (Macaca fascicularis) Group at Tlogo Muncar Tourism Area, Mount Merapi National Park, After Two Years Closure Caused by the Covid-19 Pandemic

Abstract Long-tailed macaque ( Macaca fascicularis is one of the most common primates in Indonesia. In Sleman, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, long-tailed habituated Merapi Forest. The study aims to estimate population and re-identification groups. Moreover, we will observe social structures that probably changed because interruption interaction with visitors after closure Tlogo Muncar area during COVID-19 pandemic. estimation was done using concentration method. group consists three groups: Waterfalls, Mosque, Joglo Trubus. also identifying alpha male each group. dataset obtained processed Microsoft Excel analyzed descriptively. results show estimated 282 individuals. Alpha identification found males Waterfall Group characterized by a lump on left eyelid wound hand. Mosque marked his maxillary prognathism, while Trubus has transverse scratches nose. showed an increase from 201 individuals 2021 2022. ecological pressure perhaps caused rise number 2022 area, which adult female responded increasing their reproduction rate. reopening Covid-19 pandemic increased feed availability attracted monkeys forage outside forest.
